NOTE: Saturday New Roxy Fundraiser Lounge is SOLD OUT. We still have space available for Friday! Read on.
We have an incredible lineup set out for y’all on Friday, April 15th, 2016! All you have to do is show up to the party. If you really want to get into the scene – join us in the New Roxy Fundraiser Lounge! This allows you access to the balconies on the second and third levels of the New Roxy and gives you great vantage to the indoor and outdoor stages. You will also benefit from light snacks and limited libations!
How do we benefit from it? All funds raised go to continuing the renovations of the New Roxy, making it more comfortable for our community to enjoy through a variety of events. If you have been to the New Roxy before, you’ll be mightily impressed with what we’ve accomplished over the last couple of years (flushing toilets! smooth concrete walkways! sealing in the front bar area!). The transformation continues though, and we need your help to move forward. If you have never been to the New Roxy before, we welcome you to our community and invite you to be a part of its building blocks! The New Roxy Theater is a unique space with a wondrous atmosphere that can be best understood if you’re standing in the middle of it.
We appreciate your support in making the vision take shape!

Shake ‘Em On Down is a one-hour documentary film which aims to tell the story of Fred McDowell, who was first recorded by Alan Lomax in 1959, traveled to Europe with the Rolling Stones in the mid-1960s, mentored Bonnie Raitt, and served as the cornerstone of the unique and enduring North Mississippi-style of blues music.
Building on the longevity, success, and devoted audience of Highway 61 Radio, a production of the Southern Documentary Project, [Joe] York and [Scott] Barretta feel that a dedication to visual storytelling about the musical heritage of the South, with a primary focus on the Blues, will greatly enhance SouthDocs’ ability to meet its goals of documenting and educating the region. This film will be the first documentary produced under the Highway 61 Films banner, and will signal a new commitment to documenting the musical culture of the region. (from southdocs.org)
